Gerald R. “Doc” Yarnell

MOORESVILLE

Gerald R. “Doc” Yarnell, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Franklin United Methodist Community. He was a resident of Mooresville and former resident of Franklin.

Doc was born Dec. 2, 1938 in Washington to Jasper Emmitt and Violet Bernice Yarnell. He married Ruth M. Stiver on Sept. 16, 1961. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2017.

Survivors include children, Jerry (wife Judy) Yarnell of Franklin, Justine (husband Cully) Kinnick of Nineveh and Jennifer Yarnell (fiancé Jeff Ackerman) of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Jenna and Jacob Yarnell of Franklin, Clay and Grant Kinnick of Nineveh and one great-grandchild, Jorgia Yarnell.

Other survivors include two brothers, Ken and Don Mountain.

Doc was a graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School in Bellwood, Pennsylvania, Penn State University and Indiana University School of Medicine.

He was an anesthesiologist at both St. Francis and Methodist Hospitals, and practiced pain management at Community Hospital South, retiring in 2002. He continued his private practice, specializing in pain management, until 2012.

Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St., Franklin. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
