Jacqueline “Jackie” (Hudkins) Manis, 87, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017, at her home in Franklin.

Jackie was born May 14, 1930, in Rochester to Waldron and Charlene (Raymer) Hudkins.

She was a teacher and librarian for North Lawrence Community Schools in Bedford for 20 years, retiring in 1991.

Jackie loved to read and enjoyed politics.

She was a member of the Indiana Teacher’s Association and Tri Kappa Sorority.

She was very active at Grace United Methodist Church for 25 years and a member of the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by three children, Michael (Therese) Manis of Newland, North Carolina, Patrick (Dawn) Manis and Kathleen (Joe) Erickson both of Franklin; a brother, James Hudkins Sr. of Michigan City; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Manis; and a brother, Edward Hudkins Sr.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at MC Smith Funeral Home, 153 E. Washington St., Knox, with visitation from noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Knox.
