Man arrested after prowling accusation

A man was arrested after a resident of a Center Grove area neighborhood reported seeing someone peering in her window.

The resident called police after she spotted a person looking in a window of her home on Lanarkshire Drive in the Highland Park neighborhood just before 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. She told police the person was wearing a hat or a mask, and she scared the person off by opening her door and setting off the security alarm, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies reviewed security cameras at the home and saw two men walking around the house and checking to see if doors were unlocked, the report said.

Shortly after, deputies found a man walking through the neighborhood carrying a black mask and airsoft gun, the report said.

Steven Vischak, 20, 5496 Rodeo Court Apt. H, Terre Haute, was arrested on a charge of conspiracy to commit burglary and a warrant from Vigo County for an alcohol offense and was taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was released on $6,600 bond and then taken to Vigo County.

Vischak’s vehicle was parked at the nearby clubhouse, and a worker reported seeing a second vehicle parked next to it, but it had left before deputies arrived, the report said.

Deputies are looking for a second person they believe may have also been with Vischak, Sheriff Doug Cox said.
