Franklin names new provost, dean of college

Lori K. Schroeder has been named provost and dean of the college. She will start July 17.

She replaces David Brailow, who retired at the end of the last school year. Tim Garner served as an interim dean while a new dean was hired. Garner will next serve as the associate vice president for institutional analytics and special projects.

Schroeder’s last position was with Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, where she served as the associate dean of the college since 2010.

She began teaching English at Knox in 1996 and became the department chair in 2003. She also previously taught at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York, the University of Illinois and the University of Denver.

Schroeder earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Purdue University, a master’s degree in English literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a doctorate in English language and literature from the University of Denver.
