GREENWOOD

Eva M. (Mendoza) Torres, 89, of Greenwood, formerly of Whiteland, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Oct. 26, 1927, in Ejido Tepehuaje, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Pablo and Catalina (Palacios) Mendoza.

She married Marcos Torres on Nov. 26, 1949, in Ejido Tepehuaje, Nuevo Leon, Mexico; he preceded her in death on March 31, 1997.

She had worked for Maschmeyer Nursery and Whiteland Orchards.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church where she was faithful and quietly involved in many aspects of the church.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her children, Elia R. Torres of New Whiteland, Alma Clymer (Tom) of Harrisburg, North Carolina, J. Marcos Torres (Lori) of Whiteland, and Juanita C. Briones (Robert) of Greenwood; eight grandchildren, Lisa Paladin (Shane) of Hong Kong, David Conners of New Whiteland, Tommy Clymer (Katherine) of Concord, North Carolina, Nick Torres (Natalie) of Indianapolis, Cecilia Click (Jordan) of Indianapolis, and Prajedes Briones, Javier Briones and Xander Briones, all of Greenwood; eight great-grandchildren, Manny Torres, Mario Torres, Selena Torres, Dominic Click, Layla Click, Henry Paladin, Conner Paladin and Delia Clymer; two sisters-in-law, Nazaria Mendoza of New Whiteland, and Carmela Mendoza of Ejido Tepehuaje, Nuevo Leon, Mexico; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gilberto and Juana Torres of Ejido Tepehuaje, Nuevo Leon, Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Carmen Mendoza Granados; brothers, Florentino Mendoza, Jose Mendoza, Vicente Mendoza and infant brother, Mendoza.

Father Mike Keucher will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, 335 S. Meridian St., Greenwood. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church where a rosary service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
