Domestic battery incident involved gun, child

A man who was upset about a relationship with a woman grabbed the woman and put a loaded gun on his hip as he followed her around a Franklin home on Saturday evening, police said.

Jacob Lee Fancher, 21, of Franklin, was arrested on charges of battery on a person less than 14 years old and domestic battery, both felonies, and an additional misdemeanor charge of battery.

Police were called to the home because a woman told police that Fancher became upset when she wanted to leave, and he followed her around the home, grabbing her and telling her that he would not let her go. She saw him load a gun as he told her “I got you,” a Franklin Police Department report said.

During the dispute, he pushed a 2-year-old boy, causing the child to hit his head on the floor and develop a rug burn, the report said.

The woman called a friend to the home to help her leave. Fancher also grabbed her, the report said.

Fancher did not have the gun when police arrived, but officers found it in the home and took it to the police department, the report said. Fancher told officers that he did not grab the women, but was only trying to hug one of them, and that he did not push the boy, the report said.

Fancher was released from the Johnson County jail on $3,000 bond.
