Principal leaving Center Grove

Center Grove High School’s principal is leaving to take a job running a summer school and camp program in northern Indiana.

Doug Bird has had the top job at Center Grove High School for four years. He recently was hired as the director of summer schools and camps at Culver Academies in Culver, a boarding high school and summer camp.

Center Grove is hoping to find his replacement by June 15, and have the new principal begin work by July 1, according to the school district. The school district is asking for applications for the new principal to be submitted by June 4. Interviews and site visits to the school will be conducted in June.

A committee of parents and staff is being assembled to help with the interviewing process.

Applicants will be screened by the superintendent and human resources director and be interviewed by the committee, with final candidates being interviewed by the superintendent’s cabinet.
