Area schools given four-star distincition

Six area schools have been named a Four Star School by the Indiana Department of Education.

Center Grove Middle School Central, Maple Grove Elementary School, Clark-Pleasant Middle School, Greenwood Community High School and Westwood Elementary School were given the designation.

Roncalli High School on the southside also made the list.

Schools that receive the designation will have received an “A” for the 2015-2016 school year and be in the top 25 percent of scores in ISTEP testing.

High schools named to the list must have an overall high graduation rate, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Education.

Last year, eight county schools were named Four Star schools. Center Grove High School, Center Grove Middle School North and Franklin Community Middle School did not make the list again.

This is Greenwood Community High School’s sixth year in a row receiving the honor and Westwood Elementary’s Schools 19th time overall.
