Church hosting senator for veterans program

Christ Our Shepherd Church of the Brethren, 857 N. State Road 135, Greenwood, will host U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly as a speaker for the church’s veterans dinner and program on June 11.

Dinner will begin at 5 p.m. and the program will start at 6 p.m. The program is free and open to all veterans, military members and their families.

Donnelly has represented Indiana in the U.S. Senate since 2013, and serves on the Senate aging, agriculture, armed services and banking committees.

Two of his recent efforts were enacted that will recognize Hoosier veterans. The first permanently designates March 29 each year as National Vietnam War Veterans Day. President Donald Trump recently signed into law bipartisan legislation Donnelly supported to establish a National Desert Storm War Memorial in Washington, D.C., according to a statement.
