Greenwood convenience store robbed at gunpoint

A man walked into a downtown Greenwood convenience store early Wednesday morning and pointed a gun, gesturing for the clerk to be quiet, police said.

No one was injured in the 1:30 a.m. robbery of the Village Pantry at 520 N. Meridian St. Police are investigating.

A police dog was brought to the scene to try to track the suspect, who ran westbound from the store. Officers set up a perimeter, but the robber was not found, a Greenwood police report said.

The suspect never spoke to the clerk. He had the bottom part of his face covered, a report said.
