Franklin Tri Kappa attends convention

Franklin Tri Kappa members recently attended the 62nd state convention for the service sorority at the Indianapolis Mariott East.

Council president Diane Trout-Cummins presided. Members of the Franklin Zeta Chapter were hostesses.

Franklin’s chapter was represented by Holly Vaught and Alyson Vaught.

Franklin’s chapter was established in 1903 with 51 members. Its service projects include purse bingo, a cheeseball sale fundraiser and bedding plants sale fundraiser.

Donations to the local Johnson County community include monies given to Girls Inc., the Boys and Girls Club, Girls on the Run, Youth Connections, Hunger Heroes, Best Buddies and many others, according to a statement.

More than $45,000 was given to Riley Hospital at the convention. Scholarships from money raised by Tri Kappa statewide was nearly half a million dollars, according to the statement.
