Johnson Memorial honored for quality care

Johnson Memorial Hospital has been recognized for its commitment to quality patient care.Johnson Memorial Health was one of only 823 hospitals nationally to receive an “A” for its commitment to reducing errors, infections and accidents that can harm patients by the Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization committed to driving quality and safety in the U.S. health care system.

Developed under the guidance of an expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public, according to a statement.

New physician joins St. Francis oncology group

Dr. Taylor M. Ortiz has joined the practice of Franciscan Physician Network Oncology & Hematology Specialists.

Ortiz is a graduate of Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts and completed his medical oncology and hematology fellowships at the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center.

He is the former medical director of the Seacoast Cancer Center in Dover, New Hampshire and previously served as U.S. Medical Oncology Advisor for Thoracic Oncology at Eli Lilly and Co. He is board-certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine.

Ortiz has clinical and research interests in thoracic malignancies and personalized cancer therapeutics. He provides clinical care for patients with solid tumors and benign and malignant hematologic disorders.

A native of Fishers, Ortiz received his bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Columbia University and his internal medicine residency training at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society.

Center Grove Aldi store to reopen with new interior

The Aldi store on State Road 135 in the Center Grove area will reopen May 25 with a renovated interior.The store at 300 S. State Road 135, Greenwood is one of 22 stores in Indianapolis and the surrounding metropolitan area that will be remodeled by the end of 2020.

To celebrate the reopening, Aldi will host ribbon-cutting ceremonies at 8:25 a.m. The first 100 shoppers will receive Aldi gift cards of various amounts.

The new Aldi store look highlights the company’s new focus on offering more fresh food such as produce, dairy and bakery sections.

Remodeled stores will also feature a modern design, open ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials — such as recycled materials, energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting.
