Boys track and field

Whiteland’s Emberton doubles up

Senior Ryder Emberton took first place in both the discus and shot put for Whiteland at the Warren Central Sectional on Thursday. Among the other Warriors advancing to next week’s regional meet was Jacob Ballain, who was second in the pole vault.

Baseball

Columbus East routs Franklin

Franklin was taken down by Columbus East on Thursday 8-2. Luke Miles was the losing pitcher for the Grizzly Cubs (11-12, 8-4 Mid-State).

Lancers throttle Waldron

Edinburgh defeated Waldron 16-3 in five innings Thursday. Kyle Armel led from the mound and added a double offensively for the Lancers (10-11-1, 5-6-1 Mid-Hoosier). Keegan Sida doubled as well.

Softball

Trojans slide past Scecina

Center Grove took down Class 2A No. 6 Scecina 7-1 on Thursday. Jordyn Rudd led the Class 4A No. 3 Trojans (24-1) offensively with two doubles. Abby Herbst was the winning pitcher.

Braves fly past Beech Grove

Indian Creek defeated Beech Grove 7-3. Sydney Logsdan led from the plate with two RBIs off of two doubles for the Braves (13-7). Dori Knight and Kasey Wilhoit also doubled in the game. Brittney Dugan was the winning pitcher.

Edinburgh shuts out Waldron

Edinburgh defeated Waldron in five innings 12-0 on Thursday. Paige Burton, Bri Howard, and Vanessa McManaway all had doubles for the Lancers (17-5, 10-2 Mid-Hoosier). Bailey Woodall had two hits and was the winning pitcher, striking out 11.

Girls tennis

Rebels win sectional

Roncalli defeated host Franklin Central in a tight match to take the sectional title 3-2 on Thursday. Emma Hess earned a victory in No. 1 singles, while Kathleen Ditton won at No. 3. The duo of Ally Lewis and Lauren Liberto prevailed in three sets at No. 2 doubles to seal the match for the Rebels (16-4).

Boys golf

Franklin defeats Plainfield

Franklin topped Plainfield 152-169 on Thursday. Javan Johnson shot 36 to take medalist honors for the Grizzly Cubs, while Emerson Downing and Blake McIntire finished at 37 and 38, respectively.

Braves top Lancers

Indian Creek shot 187 to top Edinburgh by 15 strokes on Thursday. Cohnor Park won medalist honors off of a 44 for the Braves, while Scott Russell followed behind with 47. For the Lancers, Bladen Hancock led the way with a 46 and Christian Cox shot 49.
