Glenda J. (Rainwater) Clark

MORGANTOWN

Glenda J. (Rainwater) Clark, 73, passed away peacefully May 17, 2017 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She was a longtime resident of Morgantown.

Glenda was born May 25, 1943 in Martinsville, to her parents, Glenn and Alma J. (White) Rainwater. She was a 1961 graduate of Trafalgar High School and went on to earn an associate’s degree in business administration from Indiana State University in Terre Haute.

Glenda retired in 2011 as an administrative assistant and family service counselor for Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown after 47 devoted years. Prior to that, she was the owner and operator, alongside her husband, of Indian Creek Realty from 1975 to 1980. Glenda and her husband were also the owner and operator of Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown from 1965 to 1975.

Glenda was a member of the First Christian Church of Morgantown and a former member of the Morgantown Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority. She was the past treasurer for East Hill Cemetery and past coordinator of the Lion’s Club building, both located in Morgantown. Glenda was also a licensed real estate agent and broker and licensed insurance agent. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, working crossword puzzles and tending to her flower gardens. Glenda also enjoyed walking with her dogs on her family farm.

Glenda is survived by her husband of 52 years, Richard L. Clark, whom she married on June 21, 1964 in Morgantown. She is also survived by her mother, Alma J. Rainwater of Morgantown; daughters, Lisa C. (Ed) Alexander and Teresa “Teri” Clark both of Morgantown; siblings, Karen “Sue” (Martin) Lower and Jim (Bev) Rainwater both of Morgantown; grandchildren, Jennifer (Neal) Lynch of Otterbein, Kurtis (Lisa) Alexander of Peoga and Laura Alexander of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Emerson, William and Morris Alexander and Amelia Lynch; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn.

The Rev. Mark Hafenbreidel will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
