Letter: Will health-care bill voters feel shame?

To the editor:

I believe that people — and in this case, elected officials — are judged not only by other people for their actions, but also judged by God.

And I believe that today, Rep. Trey Hollingsworth will be judged for his vote in favor of the new healthcare bill. If he thinks that greatly reducing Medicare, reintroducing lifetime caps and, in many states, likely removing the protection from exclusion or high prices for insurance if one has a preexisting condition is taking care of his vulnerable constituents, he is fooling himself.

Oh, wait, he is not fooling himself, because the House of Representatives exempted themselves from this bill. So once again, they will be getting much better insurance than we will.

The more than 300,000 voters in the 9th District who are younger than 65 and who have preexisting conditions will suffer.

Rep. Hollingsworth and his colleagues who voted for this bill should be ashamed of themselves.
