Space camp offered for special needs kids

Students with special needs can learn all about space this summer.

INSpace Camp through Space Sport Indiana will be June 27 to 30 at the Greenwood airport, 1291 Airport Parkway, Greenwood.

The camp is open to special needs children ages 10 to 14.

Campers will learn about drone and balloon flights and rocket launches and go on airplane rides.

Youth Connections offers free camp

Youth Connections is giving your youngster a chance to spend their summer working on STEM concepts.

The STEM Summer Camp will be June 5 to 15 and 19 to 29 at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.

Campers will go on field trips and learn STEM concepts at the free camp.

Center Grove names top teacher

Center Grove Community Schools have named their teacher of the year.

Center Grove Middle- School Central eighth grade science teacher Andrea McCoy is the 2016-17 Center Grove Community School Corp. Teacher of the Year.

McCoy has been teaching for six years. The overall district Teacher of the Year is chosen by a Franklin College committee from the teachers of the year selected in each building.

She will receive $1,000 to spend on her classroom. She will represent Center Grove in the Indiana Teacher of the Year competition.

Roncalli High School teacher wins award

A Roncalli High School teacher has won a statewide award.

The Indiana Teachers of Physics Association honored physics teacher Ben Grimes with the Indiana Physics Teacher of the Year Award.

Grimes has been a teacher for 10 years.

Greenwood Robotics offering camp

Your robotics-loving youngster can attend a camp this summer.

Greenwood Robotics is offering a camp from 8 a.m. to noon June 19 to 23 at Greenwood Community High School, 615 W. Smith Valley Road.

Cost is $100.
