Mark R. Lane

INDIANAPOLIS

Mark R. Lane, 81, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, May 6, 2017.

He was born April 8, 1936, the second child of Geneva (Matthews) and Claude Lane.

Mark grew up and attended schools in Southport. He spent many happy years in Whiteland prior to moving to Indianapolis for his last years.

Mark is survived by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis (Martlage) Lane; sister, Carole Johnson; son, Randall (Joyce), daughters, Belinda Lay and Tami (Dale) Altenburg; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one of his granddaughters.

His family wants Mark to be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, a father who was caring and always there for his children, and a grandfather who delighted in each of his grandchildren.

He loved to fish, standing waist-deep in rushing streams hoping for the big one.

Mark enjoyed gardening and woodworking, and dazzled on the dance floor.

In his younger years he made many contributions to the community through his work in Jaycees.

A celebration of life will be celebrated for their close friends and family.

Anyone wishing to honor him is encouraged to donate to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements were entrusted to Indiana Funeral Care.
