Report: Jailers find meth on suspect

A motorist didn’t stop after hitting a parked car in a Franklin neighborhood, and she ended up being arrested after jailers found bags of suspected methamphetamine, a police report said.

Cassandra Jo Thompson, 34, 1993 Churchill Road, Franklin, was arrested on charges of dealing methamphetamine, leaving the scene of an accident and possession of paraphernalia. She told police she was selling the drugs because she needed money, the Franklin Police Department report said.

A woman saw a vehicle hit her friend’s car Saturday evening, and she followed the vehicle since it didn’t stop, she told police.

Thompson told police and the woman that the incident wasn’t a big deal because she has insurance. Police asked her if she had any weapons or illegal items, and she told them she had a marijuana smoking device in the truck, the report said. Officers also found a second smoking device typically used to smoke meth, according to the report.

She was taken to the Johnson County jail, where two bags of meth were found on her, the report said. She told police she was low on cash and trying to make money, the report said.

Thompson was released from the jail on $5,000 bond.
