William “Bill” P. Atkins

INDIANAPOLIS

William “Bill” P. Atkins, 74, Indianapolis, passed away Sunday evening, April 30, 2017, at St. Franciscan Health Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born Feb. 28, 1943, in Fentress County, Tennessee, the son of Willie and Edna (Dossett) Atkins.

Bill served in the U.S. Army. After his separation from the armed services, he worked at Regency Electronics as a Certified Public Accountant for several years, retiring in 2006.

He was a member of Indian Creek Christian Church, and also had been a member of Johnson County Jaycees.

Bill enjoyed fishing, some golf, playing cards and watching his sports — especially his Indianapolis Colts.

Survivors include his wife, Frances, whom he married Dec. 29, 1962; son, Matt (wife, Angie) Atkins; daughter, Marci Atkins; grandchildren, Dylan Atkins, Christian, Jacob and Maecy; brother, Joel (wife, Dixie) Atkins; and sister, Carolyn Murphy.

William was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Logan.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Family and friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
