James “Jim” D. Long

FRANKLIN

James “Jim” D. Long, 65, of Franklin, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017, at Christina Place in Franklin.

He was born April 3, 1952, in Johnson County.

He was the son of Oscar and Miriam (Waltz) Long.

He is survived by a brother, John D. Long of Greenwood; brother-in-law, Jack Lewis of Edinburgh; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents brothers, Richard A. Long and Jerry L. Long, and a sister, Shirley F. Lewis.

He was a member of the National Honor Society.

He had been an educator in both Chatard High School and Ritter High School in Indianapolis. He retired in 2012 after 35 years of service.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Lewis Burton at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Calling will be 4 to 8 p.m.  Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
