Mary Lou (Elliott) Polesel

WHITELAND

Mary Lou (Elliott) Polesel, 83, passed away Wednesday April 26, 2017, at Franklin Meadows in Franklin. She was a resident of Whiteland.

Mary Lou was born May 28, 1933, in Indianapolis to Gary and Lottie Frances (Wickliff) Elliott.

She attended Howe High School in Indianapolis and Clark High School in Johnson County.

Mary Lou married Louis Polesel on Dec. 18, 1950; they were married for 44 years.

She was employed as a secretary at Clark Elementary, retiring in 1996 after 32 years of service. She then worked for the Kohl’s store in Greenwood for several years.

Mary Lou was an avid basketball fan, supporting Indiana University, coach Bobby Knight, the Indiana Pacers, and former Clark Elementary students in their basketball careers. She also enjoyed watching and supporting her children and grandchildren when playing sports.

She was a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove for many years and a member of the Greenwood Christian Church.

Survivors include five children, Michael (Cathy) Polesel and Larry (Sharyn) Polesel, both of New Whiteland, Richard (Linda) Polesel of Whiteland, Debra (Tony) Morgan of California, and Becky (Bob) Zehr of Paoli; two brothers, Harold Elliott of Whiteland and Gary Max (Sherry) Elliott of Avon; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis Polesel in May of 1995; a brother, Jerry Elliott; and a sister, Eleanor Brooks.

Rev. Shan Rutherford will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North, with visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Indianapolis.
