Grizzlies welcome new vice president

Franklin College has named Evelyn Buchanan as the college’s new vice president for development and alumni engagement.With more than 20 years of fundraising experience, Buchanan comes to Franklin from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where she served as the vice president for institutional advancement since 2015.

She previously worked for Colgate University, State University of New York (SUNY) Empire State College, the Culinary Institute of America and the Institute of Ecosystem Studies, all in New York; and Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire. She also has experience as a development consultant.

She earned a bachelor of arts degree from SUNY Empire State College and a Master of Science degree in management — nonprofit leadership from New England College.

Buchanan will begin her new position in late May.

Education group names director

Franklin Education Connection has announced that Toni Breeden has been named director of the organization.Most recently, Breeden was the director of marketing and communications at Greenwood Orthopaedics. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from IUPUI.

The Franklin Education Connection’s mission is to enhance academic excellence and instill a lifelong love of learning by connecting Franklin Community Schools with community resources.

It provides grants for programs to enhance academic achievement, while Study Connection joins dedicated adult Study Buddies with students needing extra guidance to succeed.
