Franklin girls win tri meet

The Franklin girls rolled past Mooresville and Greencastle on Thursday evening, scoring 80.5 points to defeat the second-place Pioneers by 27.

Kloie Doublin led the Grizzly Cubs with victories in the 100- and 400-meter dashes and the long jump, while Ally Parramore swept the 100 and 300 hurdles. Franklin also won the 1,600 and 3,200 relays and got individual wins from Emma Treibic (3,200), Lia Vawter (high jump) and Haydn Driver (pole vault).

Trojans tie for top spot

Top-ranked Center Grove finished tied with No. 2 Westfield in a three-team match at Broadmoor Country Club on Thursday.

The Trojans and Shamrocks each posted a score of 310, while No. 9 Zionsville was two shots back at 312. Ethan Shepherd led Center Grove with a score of 74.

Grizzly Cubs win four-way

Franklin took first in a four-team match Thursday, totaling 158 to best runner-up Indianapolis Chatard by nine strokes.

Matt Jordan was the medalist with a round of 36, and Javan Johnson finished one shot back at 37.

Baseball team shuts down Anderson

Jordan Clark scattered six hits, struck out 11 and did not allow an earned run, lifting the Franklin baseball team to a 3-1 victory against Anderson on Friday.

Nick Wright had three hits for the Grizzlies (20-14, 12-9 HCAC), including two doubles.

A planned second game was suspended by rain will be completed at noon today, with another scheduled game to follow.

Women’s lacross falls at Transylvania

Despite three goals from Lexi Ingram and two from Abby Stayer, the Franklin women’s lacrosse team suffered an 18-6 defeat at Transylvania on Friday.

The Grizzlies (6-7, 4-5 ORLC) host St. Vincent on Sunday.

Groundbreaking at Indy Lutheran

Indianapolis Lutheran High School will be breaking ground on a new turf athletics field and track next week. The ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
