Police: Indy woman tried to fake drug test on probation

An Indianapolis woman was arrested last week after a deputies said she attempted to fake a drug test while on probation.

Ashley Smoot, 30, was arrested on charges of trafficking with an inmate, possession of a urine screen altering device, possession of heroin,  possession of methamphetamine and violating probation.

Prior to the drug test, a probation officer noticed that Smoot was trying to hide a piece of clear, urine-filled plastic on her body. Smoot dropped the item in the toilet, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said.

A deputy arrested Smoot. Prior to being taken to Johnson County jail, Smoot was asked if she had anything illegal in her possession, and she told the deputy she did not, the report said.

Because of the charge against her, jail staff performed a strip search. They found two baggies on her: one with heroin and one with methamphetamine. Another bag, which Smoot said was filled with fake heroin, was also found, the report said.

Smoot was held on $8,800 bond.
