FRANKLIN
Mildred E. White, 91, passed away Saturday morning, April 22, 2017, at Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin.
Mildred was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Brown County, to the late Cary and Edith Mary (Griffin) Cummings.
She married Morris R. White on Oct. 30, 1945, in Nashville. He preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 2001, after 56 loving years.
Mildred was a 1943 Helmsburg High School graduate and went on to earn her degree as a licensed practical nurse from IUPUI, Indianapolis.
She retired from the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin in 1995 after 20 years of service.
Mildred loved to square dance in earlier years with her beloved husband, Morris. She also enjoyed crocheting, quilting and flower gardening.
Mildred was a member of the Red Hat Society, Morgantown Eastern Star Chapter 579 and the Morgantown Christian Church.
Mildred is survived by her children, Morris A. (Gwen) White of Indianapolis, Kenneth W. (Virginia) White of Helmsburg and Nancy (Robert) Whaley of Greenwood; sister, Ruby Walden of Spencer; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris R. White; and two brothers, Carl Cummings and Paul Cummings.
The Rev. David Lee will conduct a graveside service at 3 p.m. today at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
