Warriors fall in extra innings

Despite Skye Scott going 3 for 5 with a home run, Whiteland came out on the short end of a slugfest with Southport on Friday, falling in eight innings, 9-8.

Pitcher Delanie Gourley went the distance in defeat for the Warriors, striking out five.

Girls tennis

County tournament postponed

The semifinals and finals of the Johnson County Girls Tennis Tournament originally scheduled for Friday and today have been pushed back due to inclement weather.

Franklin will travel to play a semifinal match at Center Grove on Monday, and Whiteland hosts Indian Creek on Wednesday in the other semi. The championship will take place at Whiteland on a date yet to be determined.

Baseball team falls at Bluffton

Playing the first of a three-game weekend series at Bluffton, Franklin College’s baseball team lost 7-4.

Alex Mis drove in three runs to lead the Grizzlies (17-13, 9-8 HCAC).
