Mildred B. Cox

OKEECHOBEE, FLA.

Mildred B. Cox, 94, formerly of Greenwood, widow of the late Jiggs Johnson and the late Jerry Cox, passed away Monday morning, April 17, 2017, in Okeechobee, Florida.

Mildred was born Dec. 17, 1922, in Shoals, to John Emmons and Gladys Tedrow Emmons.

Survivors include her children, Joseph Earl Johnson of Rosanky, Texas, Carol Jean Mayo of Mooresville, Judith Ann West of Clayton, Janice Marie Vogus of Mooresville, Linda Jane Walker of Clayton and Jennifer Elaine Green of Okeechobee, Florida; one brother, John Emmons of Florida; 20 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jiggs Johnson and husband, Jerry Cox; one brother, Edward Emmons, two sisters, Anna Bergerman and Lily Chamberlain; and two grandchildren, Joseph Johnson and Joseph Walker.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Services and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
