Former NFL player speaks to area teens

A former player for the Indianapolis Colts is in Johnson County this week, talking to teens about self care and the dangers of substance abuse.

Steve Grant, a linebacker for the Colts from 1992 to 1997, has talked to students at the Franklin Boys and Girls Club, Atterbury Job Corps and Edinburgh Community High School and at a community program at a church in Prince’s Lakes.

Today he will talk to Franklin Community High School spring athletes about identity, academic excellence, respectful relationships and how to achieve their dreams.

Grant is bringing his message to the schools through Sports World Inc., an organization that addresses problems facing young people by sending professional athletes to share personal life experiences with students, helping them to recognize the consequences of their choices while challenging them with a message of hope, according to its website.
