Ellen (Richert) Huddleston, 57, of Greenwood, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017.
She was born March 23, 1960, in Jeffersonville, to Fred and Nancy Richert.
Ellen was a faithful wife to her husband, Rick, loyal sister to her brother, Rick, and sister, Terri, beautiful daughter to Fred and Nancy. She was a loving mother to her sons, Ben and Sam and a devoted Nana to her grandsons, Jackson and Carson. Ellen was a close confidant to her daughter-in-law, Emily and her many dear friends. Her love and zest for life was apparent to all who knew her.
Ellen was a multi-sport standout at Jeffersonville High School including as a track and field state champion.
Ellen was a Franklin College alumni and lifelong member of the Delta Zeta sorority.
Ellen was a committed Christian, caring for those in need in the community and through mission work.
She devoted her time and efforts into raising her family and giving back to her community by serving in Friedens UCC, PEO sorority and Center Grove athletics.
Being an avid sports fan, Ellen strove for health and fitness. She completed multiple half-marathons including one in which she raised awareness for Type 1 Diabetes, all while undergoing chemo and radiation therapy.
Ellen embodied grace, humility and gratitude, and will be missed by many.
Ellen’s “End of Life Celebration” will be at Friedens United Church of Christ on April 29. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. with a service at 3 p.m. Child care will be provided.
