Roy L. Findley

FRANLIN

Roy L. Findley, 72, of Franklin, passed from this life at 6:52 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2017, at his home.

Mr. Findley retired from Sonoco Flexible Packaging in 2008 after 42 years of service, and he also retired from the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin.

Roy was born in Hazard, Kentucky on April 17, 1944, to Walker and Carlie Barger.

He married Wanda L. Taylor on Nov. 19, 1966.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years; his children, Ronald (Holly) Findley and Christina (Jose) Castro both of Taylorsville; brothers, Joe (Dezra) Findley of Franklin, Ray (Dorothy) Findley of Morgantown and Kevin Poore of Seymour; sisters, Earlene (Bob) Kincaid of Franklin and Lettie Estep of Kentucky; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank and Raymond Finley and Farris Barger; a sister, Juanita Walker; and a son, Daniel Findley.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street in Columbus with Elder Dereck Mobley officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and noon to time of service Wednesday. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery with military honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
