A walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh lifted New Palestine past Whiteland 5-4 on Monday.

Jacob Leistner had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run for the Warriors (6-2), who also got an RBI triple from Bailey Watson.

Edinburgh falls to Oldenburg

After taking an early lead on a third-inning RBI double by Zach Giles, Edinburgh wound up on the losing end of a 4-1 decision against visiting Oldenburg Academy on Monday.

Zach Murphy had three of the Lancers’ eight hits, all of them doubles, and scored the team’s lone run.

Franklin handles Whiteland

In a battle of county and Mid-State Conference rivals, Franklin got a pair of key three-set wins to top Whiteland 4-1 on Monday.

Abi Smith rallied for a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles, while the Grizzly Cubs’ No. 2 doubles team of Aiden Smith and Ella Pheifer claimed a 6-0, 6-7 (1), 6-0 triumph.

Katie Heuchan won in straight sets at No. 2 singles, while Daryn Hyneman and Katie Purk did the same at No. 1 doubles. Whiteland’s lone point came at No. 1 singles, where Reese Johnson was a winner in straight sets.

Braves sweep Edgewood

Indian Creek rolled past Western Indiana Conference foe Edgewood on Monday, 5-0.

Katie Burkman, Ali Harris and Brooke Coy dropped just five combined games in sweeping the singles points. McKayla Russell and Sarah Knight won at No. 1 doubles, while Mya Piccone and Mekenzie Hunter were triumphant at No. 2.

Emma Hess was a winner at No. 1 singles, leading Roncalli to a 3-2 victory past Brebeuf.
