Professor hosting interfaith celebration

David Carlson, Franklin College professor of philosophy and religion, will host an interfaith celebration as part of a launch for his new book, “Countering Religious Extremism: The Healing Power of Spiritual Friendships.”

The book is a record of spiritual interviews and reflections by Carlson and was released April 1 by New City Press.

The event will be 7 p.m. April 25, St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Indianapolis, and will include a panel of leaders of interfaith groups and organizations in central Indiana, followed by remarks by Carlson about his experience writing the book.

The event is free and open to the public.

Book signing opportunities will take place before and after the evening program.

Participants and sponsors of the event include Franklin College, Columbus Interfaith Forum, Nur-Allah Islamic Center and the Spiritual Oneness Group of St. Luke’s Methodist Church.
