Softball

Trojans continue rolling

Center Grove defeated Brownsburg at home Thursday 6-1. Taylor Dishman led the offense with a home run and two RBIs. Abby Herbst was the winning pitcher for the Trojans, who improve to 8-0 to start the season.

Mooresville downs Greenwood

Greenwood was defeated by Mooresville 2-0 on Thursday. Pitcher Kaitlyn Heffner came up with a double in the loss, one of just two hits for the Woodmen (2-5).

Lancers slide past South Decatur

Edinburgh held off a late sixth-inning comeback by South Decatur on Thursday to win 6-3. Sidney Beier led the Lancers (3-3) with a homer, two RBIs and a double. Vanessa McManaway added a double and two RBIs. Madisyn Clark was the winning pitcher.

Center Grove sweeps Warriors

Center Grove took down Warren Central 5-0 on Thursday.

Katelyn Gray, Maddie Weeks, and Jillian Garrett all came up with 6-0, 6-0 victories in singles competition. Kristin Spindler and Abby Hoard swept their opponents at No. 1 doubles, while Holyn Aukerman and MJ Hammill won at No. 2 doubles.

Boys golf

Franklin takes down Shelbyville

Franklin shot 301 to Shelbyville’s 342 to pick up a win Thursday. Emerson Downing led the Grizzly Cubs with a 72, while Javan Johnson shot 75.

Edinburgh finishes third

Edinburgh was third of three teams at a home meet Thursday. The Lancers finished with a score of 234. Morristown placed first with 188, followed by Southwestern with 230. Bladen Hancock led Edinburgh with a 43.

Trojans defeat Plainfield

Center Grove defeated Plainfield on Wednesday 138-171 at Hickory Stick.

Track and field

Records fall for GCA

Greenwood Christian participated in a track meet at Beech Grove, along with Greenwood and Roncalli. For the Cougar boys, Dan Witte broke his own school records in shot put (26-1) and discus (77-7). Anna Simons led the girls with a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash. Anna Subris placed third in the 200, followed by Simons in fourth.

Grizzly Cubs win again

Franklin swept Cardinal Ritter on Wednesday, 25-16, 25-14, 25-19. The Grizzly Cubs improved to 7-1.
