FRANKLIN
William Edward Dickinson, 87, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Franklin.
He was born April 15, 1929 to Ralph and Bessie (Cash) Dickinson in Johnson County.
He graduated from Union Township School in 1947.
Upon returning from the U.S. Army, he worked as a farmer and a semi driver. He went to work for the Johnson County Highway Department in 1970, where he retired in 1995.
He married Nancy Krebbs on Dec. 15, 1956. Together they raised a family of four children.
Survivors include his children, Anna Harris, Sandra Dickinson and Douglas (Nancy) Dickinson; grandchildren, Stacey Dickinson, Kelly (Preston) Stark, DJ (Kristen) Dickinson; and great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Maci Stark. Also surviving are brother, James Dickinson and sister, Nancy Lewis.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Eddie Dickinson; and two sisters, Betty Lewis and Sarah Long.
Rev. Daniel Jepsen will conduct a celebration of life service at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N, Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Harris Cemetery.
