Cosby, Edinburgh soars past Irvington

Edinburgh defeated Irvington Prep, 28-2, on Tuesday behind a no hitter from pitcher Tavian Cosby. Cosby ended the night with seven strikeouts. Zach Murphy had a solid offensive performance for the Lancers, bringing in a triple and two RBIs. Bryce Burton and Coltan Henderson both picked up three RBIs. Edinburgh rises to 3-3.

Softball

Lauck wins 200th

Roncalli coach David Lauch won his 200th softball game Tuesday. After coaching the Rebel girls for nine years, the accomplishment was earned after a 7-1 victory against Southport that night. Under Lauck, Roncalli has won six sectionals, four regionals and three Marion County Tournament titles, as well as a Class 3A state championship in 2011.

Trojans slide past North Central

Center Grove topped North Central in a close match 3-2. Maddie Weeks score the only singles victory for the Trojans. Duos of Cassidy Hardin and Ellie Strube, as well as Carleigh Hardin and Emily Hoy, made up the rest of the points for the Trojans.

Franklin sweeps Perry Meridian

Franklin shut out Perry Meridian 5-0 on Tuesday, taking home victories in all competitions. The Grizzlycub single winners were Alexa Wilkison, Kate Heuchan, and Abi Smith. Franklin duos of Katie Purk and Daryn Hyneman, as well as Rachel Pinnick and Aden Smith, took home doubles victories. They advance to 3-0.

Braves fall to Brown County

Indian Creek was defeated by Brown County 4-1 on Tuesday. Katie Burkman brought in the sole victory for the Braves in a singles match.

Rebels down Lawrence Central

Roncalli took down Lawrence Central 152-231 on Tuesday. Evan Wray and Luke Poole led, shooting 1-over 37s. Logan Schott finished with a 38.

Boys track and field

Grizzly Cubs rout Martinsville

Franklin defeated Martinsville 102-30 in a home meet Tuesday.

Chandler McGaha led the way for Franklin, taking home first-place finishes in the 800 and high jump. McGaha, along with Josh Campbell, Isaiah Lindsay and Jake Brown, also took first in the 4×800 relay. Campbell then went on to take top honors in the 1,600 and 3,200. Travis Murr also had a stellar night for Franklin, placing first in the 100, 200, and long jump. Murr, James Jones, Riley McCann, and Javon Harris later placed first in the 4×100 relay. Sam Barnett took first in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and 4×400 relay, along with David Purdy, McGaha, and Tyler Fromer. Other individual victories went to Payton Utterback in the pole vault and Manny Cheam in discus.

Roncalli’s boys track team defeated Brebeuf 77-55 on Tuesday.

Franklin tops Center Grove, Guerin

Franklin defeated Center Grove in three matches 25-11, 25-8 and 25-16 Monday. They then followed it up on Tuesday with 3-0 victory against Guerin Catholic, with scores of 25-13, 25-15, and 25-18. The Grizzly Cubs advance to 6-1 on the season.

Women’s golf finishes third

Franklin College placed third in the Big Four Classic on Tuesday. The Grizzlies finished with a total score of 403. Butler took first with 322, followed by Hanover with 356. Franklin was led by Keely Townsend, who scored a 92.

Women’s lacrosse downs Thomas More

Franklin College defeated by Thomas More College on Tuesday, 13-9. Hannah Grow led the Grizzlies with five of their 13 points. Cali Welti and Jess Silva both came up with two apiece. Goal keeper Kayanna Wolter had six saves. They advance to 4-2.
