Larry Wayne Pershing

Larry Wayne Pershing, 66, of Greenwood, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017.

Born on March 20, 1951, in Indianapolis to the late Marion Ray and Carol Delores (Utterback) Pershing, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He worked in maintenance at Allison Transmission and Rolls Royce.

An outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, fishing and trapping.

He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed coaching football and watching NASCAR.

He was a member Southport Masonic Lodge No. 270 F & AM. He loved to play Santa every year.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Karan (Shaner) Pershing; two children, Amanda Crawshaw (Kerry) and Anna Pershing; three grandchildren, Clayton and Kayla Crawshaw and Caje Pershing; siblings, Steve Pershing (Pam) and Brenda Cooper (Dave); mother-in-law, Shirley Shaner; and brothers-in-law, Steve Shaner (Ginnie) and Mike Shaner (Kathy).

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
