Kickball tourney to benefit March of Dimes

A group of five students at Greenwood Community High School is organizing a slip-and-slide kickball tournament to raise money for the March of Dimes.

The idea came from junior Andrew Pollert, who wanted to honor the memory of a sibling of one of his friends, who died just a few hours after being born prematurely. The money raised will be used to help with research to help premature babies survive and live a typical life.

The tournament, which will be conducted at Freedom Park on Saturday, is open to participants of all ages. Teams of six can register for $30 ($5 per person) by contacting Pollert at 317-709-1750. Signups have been extended through this Friday.

Residents who want to help without getting wet can do so in other ways. Checks made out to the March of Dimes can be mailed to 7725 S. Combs Road, Indianapolis, IN, 46237. Residents interested in donating food for the event can contact Nikki Pollert at 317-946-4537 or Andrew at his number by Friday.
