Baseball

Lancers finish off Trinity

Zach Murphy capped off a complete game and went 3 for 4 with a pair of RBIs as Edinburgh used a five-run sixth inning to pull away for an 8-2 win against Trinity Lutheran on Friday.

The first five innings of the game had been played Monday, with the teams tied at 2-2, before rain intervened.

Bryce Burton also had three hits and drove in two runs for the Lancers (2-0), while Gabe Wilson added a pair of hits and stole three bases.

Warriors split doubleheader

Whiteland opened its baseball season Thursday afternoon with a pair of games against Griffith. The Warriors dropped the opener 2-0 before roaring back with a 9-1 victory.

Chase Bennett was 4 for 4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs in the nightcap, while Jacob Leistner added a two-run homer.

Trojans’ opener postponed

Center Grove’s scheduled season opener at Roncalli was rained out Friday. It will be played this afternoon at Grand Park in Indianapolis following the conclusion of the Trojans’ regularly scheduled game against Cathedral.

Softball

Center Grove game pushed back

Due to inclement weather, Center Grove’s Friday softball game at Pendleton Heights was postponed. It will be replayed at noon April 29.

Franklin College

Baseball powers past Earlham

Franklin College baseball hammered its way to an 11-6 road win against  Earlham on Friday behind a 14-hit attack.

Alex Mis was 3 for 6 and scored three runs for the Grizzlies (12-6, 4-1 HCAC), one of five Franklin players with at least two hits.
