Michael R. Robbins

EDINBURGH

Michael R. Robbins, 64, of Edinburgh, died at 9:13 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at his residence from complications of a five-month battle with lung cancer.

Michael was a 1970 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School and completed his journeyman tool maker and went on to become a manufacturing engineer at Cummins where he retired after 39 years. He enjoyed mowing and taking care of his lawn, riding his motorcycle. He was a DIY guy and enjoyed doing it and he bowled for many years with the 300 series.

Family and friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Barkes, Weaver, & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street in Columbus.

Private graveside services will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbus Regional Hospital Cancer Center for the Lung Screening Program.

Michael was born Oct. 20, 1952, in Madison the son of Norman Leroy and Rosamond V. Fallis Robbins.

On Nov. 18, 1978 in Nineveh he married Debra D. Roach.

Survivors include his loving family, his mother, Rosamond V. Robbins of Columbus; his wife of 38 years; children, Eric (Stacy) Robbins of Michigan, Holly (Josh) Burton of Edinburgh; Siblings, Danny K. (Carolyn) Robbins of Madison, Rhonda J. Wells of Columbus, Norma L. (Thomas) Humphrey of Ellettsville, Anthony B. Robbins of Columbus; grandchildren, Christopher Robbins, Crystal Boknecht, Wyatt Kinney, Zack Burton, Gavin Robbins, and Taylor Robbins; Great Grandchildren, Taiden Boknecht and Carson Boknecht; mother-in-law, Marcella M. Roach of Franklin; brothers-in-law, Gayland (Debra) Roach and Lonnie (Vickie) Roach both of Nineveh; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and his special cats.

He was preceded in death by his father; Son, Derrick Michael Robbins; father-in-law, Woodrow Roach; sisters-in-law, Sandra West and Cheryl Moore, and nephew, Marc Moore.
