Wanita Manuel

GREENWOOD

Wanita Manuel, 97, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017, in Greenwood. She was a resident of Greenwood.

She was born on Sept. 11, 1919, in Houston, Indiana, to Howard T. and Alice Matilda (Phillips) Waggoner.

She married Dennis Manuel on Sept. 9, 1939. He preceded her in passing on Feb. 6, 2002.

She is survived by their two daughters, Judy McClelland of Greenwood and Geila (Jim) English of Denver, North Carolina; grandchildren, Angela McClelland, Andrea McClelland and Jamie (Adam) Teufel; and great-grandchildren, Katie Hampton, Pierce and Lucas Teufel; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in passing by parents; husband, Dennis; granddaughter, Dawn McClelland; and nine brothers and sisters.

She attended school in Freetown.

Wanita and her husband Dennis owned and operated the first Dairy Queen in Franklin for many years and later owned and operated Whispering Pines Golf Course in Walkerton.

She was a member of Greenwood Christian Church.

Wanita enjoyed her beautiful flower gardens, playing golf, involvement in different church activities, and especially enjoyed her Friend to Friend group.

The most enjoyment of all, though, was spending time with her family.

Rev. Shan Rutherford will conduct a celebration of Wanita’s life at 11 a.m. Thursday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31) in Franklin. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
