Roscoe Dean Arney, 76, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation in Franklin.

He was born April 19, 1940, in Oden.

He retired in 2006 as a truck driver for Penske in Indianapolis. He previously had been a truck driver for Signal Delivery Services and had worked also for General Tire and Blue and White in Indianapolis.

He was a member of Teamsters Local 135 in Indianapolis.

He enjoyed taking pictures, camping, computers and exploring new technology.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Survivors include his wife Hilda Gay (Maupin) Arney, whom he married on April 18, 1981 in Johnson County; children, Robert Allen Arney (Marvilou) of the Philippians, Ronald Dean Arney (Carrie) of Indianapolis, Michael Joseph Arney (Sadie) of Morgantown, Joseph Allen Arney (Shana) of Salem, Janet Peavler of Franklin, Chris Bolt (Gina) of Franklin, Jeanenne Bolt of Franklin, Jeanette Bolt Smith of Merritt Island, Florida, Jeff Bolt of Trafalgar; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Brenda Adams (Steve) of Martinsville; a half-sister, Kay Arney of Martinsville; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Arney of Martinsville.

He was preceded in death by his father Leonard Arney, his mother Lucille (Walls) Williams; stepfather, Jack Williams; and a brother Charles Robert Arney.

The Rev. Eric Allen will conduct a service at 7 p.m. Thursday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 U.S. 31 South (Morton Street) in Franklin where friends may call from 5 p.m. until the service time at the mortuary with military honors to be conducted.
