James Kenneth Morris

James Kenneth Morris, 85, of Franklin, passed away at Community Hospital South on Saturday, March 18, 2017.

He was born in Johnson County, on Sept. 11, 1931, to Alfred Dewey Morris and Ada Lee (Sprowles) Morris.

On June 19, 1976, he married Delores J. (Latham) Morris, who survives.

Mr. Morris worked for General Motors for over 39 years, retiring in 1990. He loved to work in his yard and enjoyed fishing and bird-watching.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Delores J. Morris of Franklin; two daughters, Linda Mitchell (Butch) of Cadiz, Kentucky, Debra Baker (Glenn Eastes) of Edinburgh; three sons, James K. Morris II (Jan) of Edinburgh, Ronald E. Morris (Sabrina) of Nineveh and Bill Schurick (Patricia) of Edinburgh; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Jim Wood of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Morris was preceded in death by two sisters, Velma Wood and Wilma Watkins (Fred).

A funeral service for Mr. Morris will be held at noon Wednesday at Wilson and St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Greenwood.
