Jacob Berlin Thurman

Jacob Berlin Thurman, 23, of Greenwood, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at his residence.

Born Sept. 20, 1993, in Franklin, he was the son of Lester and Kristy Thurman and Angela (Kunkel) and Jeffrey Glessner.

Jacob is survived by his fiancé, Laura Stanley; daughter, Kaydance Elizabeth Thurman; six brothers, Joshua Thurman of San Diego, California, Justin Glessner, James Masterson, Jordan Masterson, Jonah Masterson and Elijah Thurman, all of Shelbyville, one sister, Victoria (Daniel) Keller of Hamilton, Mississippi; grandmother, Delisa Kunkel of Franklin, grandparents Jerry and Leona Glessner and grandfather Jack Thurman, both of Shelbyville; great-grandmother, Norma Pettit of Shelbyville; grandparents, Pam and Tim Hoban of Waldron, and grandfather James Adams; various aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Judith Kunkel, grandfather, Gary Kunkel, grandmother, Carol Adams; and great-grandfather, Bob Pettit.

Jacob was a car enthusiast, mechanic and jack of all trades.

He also had fun mudding in his Jeep.

Some of his most precious times were spent playing house with his daughter.

Jacob was a 2012 graduate of Shelbyville High School. He participated in wrestling, football, track and basketball as a student athlete. In the eighth grade at Shelbyville Middle School, he was the HHC Wrestling Champion for the 140-pound weight class.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today at the funeral home with Rev. Brandon Sutton officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made for a college fund for his daughter in care of the funeral home.

Directors Greg, Sheila, and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Thurman.
