Nora Alene Bailey, 89, passed away Wednesday March 15, 2017, at Franklin Meadows in Franklin.

Alene was born in Saloma, Kentucky to James and Rosie Ellen (Benningfield) Sapp.

She married Calvin Harold Bailey on May 17, 1947. They were married for 62 years.

Alene worked at several places during her lifetime, with Arvin Meritor in Franklin for 18 years and then with Franklin Community High School in the dietary department for 10 years.

She enjoyed gardening, collecting everything, cooking, and being everyone’s “Grandma.”

Alene was the “World’s Greatest Mother.”

She is survived by her four children, Barbara (Don) Paul and Brenda Hommel, both of Whiteland, Joe (Judy) Bailey of Franklin and Jim (Linda) Bailey of Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Eric Bailey, Emily Bailey, April Jones, Rachel Hommel, Ryan Bailey, Chelsea Wilson, Nicki Long, Eric Daniels, Kelli Parr, Shelli York, Chris Paul and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Bailey in May of 2009; her parents, James and Rosie Sapp, and nine siblings, Laura Grinstead, Linda Grinstead, Lucy Radford, Anna Black, Jean Fish, Robert, John, Earl and Carl Sapp.

Rev. Michael Johnson will be conducting a funeral service at noon Saturday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N. U.S. 31 with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
