Juanita Fern Doan

FRANKLIN

Juanita Fern Doan, 93, of Franklin, passed away at the Masonic Home, with her family at her side.

She was born Sept. 29, 1923, in Edinburgh to Samuel and Dorotha (Long) Dunham. She was a graduate of Union High School with the Class of 1941.

Juanita worked on the family farm all her life and she loved to play euchre and spend time with her family.

She married Raymond W. Doan on Dec. 5, 1944. He preceded her in death May 4, 1991.

Juanita is survived by her daughters, Rita (Fred) Schowengerdt of Greenwood, Reva (James) Bates of Mooresville and Connie Weddle of Morgantown; brothers, Vernon Dunham of Edinburgh and Don (Sandy) Dunham of Shelbyville, sisters, Wanda DeVore of Morristown, Carolyn (Bill) McClure of Shelbyville, Glenda Cochran of Morristown, Rosie Severson of Berona, Wisconsin and Linda Purcell of Shelbyville; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and special friends who were always there for her, Paul and Diane Richart.

Juanita was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Elaine Simpson; brothers, Gene and Bill Dunham, and sister, Audrey Barlow.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
