Greenwood students organizing fundraiser

A group of five students at Greenwood Community High School is organizing a slip and slide kickball tournament to raise money for the March of Dimes.

The idea came from junior Andrew Pollert, who wanted to honor the memory of a sibling of one of his friends, who died just a few hours after being born prematurely. The money raised will be used to help with research to help premature babies survive and live a typical life.

The tournament, which will be conducted at Freedom Park on April 8, is open to participants of all ages. Teams of six can register for $30 ($5 per person) through Friday by contacting Pollert at 317-709-1750. Sign-ups are also being conducted this week during lunch periods at the high school.

Those who want to help without getting wet can do so in other ways. Checks made out to the March of Dimes can be mailed to 7725 S. Combs Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46237. Residents interested in donating food for the event can contact Nikki Pollert at 317-946-4537 or Andrew at his number by April 7.
