Show choirs place high in competitions

Local show choirs swept central Indiana show choir competitions.

Center Grove choirs, Sound System, The Debtones and Surround Sound, were all named grand champions in their divisions at a competition at Shelbyville High School.

In the large mixed division, Sound System was also given awards for Best Vocals and Best Choreography, Alex Milligan was named Outstanding Performer and Wilson Smith was named Best Male Soloist.

In the unisex division, The Debtones were awarded Best Choreography, with Rachel Taylor named Outstanding Performer. Also in the unisex division, Accents earned second runner-up, with freshman Lauren Cooley named Outstanding Performer.

In the festival division, Surround Sound was awarded Grand Champion and given awards for Best Tech Crew, Best Choreography and Best Vocals, with Gracie Vance named Outstanding Performer and Subi Pandit named Best Male Soloist.

Franklin Community High School’s Sensations took seventh place in the large unisex division at Brownsburg High School, with Jordan Kasuboski named Best Performer. Heritage Singers took fourth with their highest score ever. Halle Stubbs was Best Performer.

Bella Voce at Franklin took sixth place. Signature Sound won Grand Champion, which included caption awards of Best Tenor section and Best Alto section. Other awards for Franklin included Hezekiah Johnson as Best Male soloist in a show and Erin Jones was second in the solo competition.

The Whiteland Community High School Rhythm Masters and Expressions competed at the Crystal Classic competition in Fairfield, Ohio. Rhythm Masters won fifth place in the large mixed show choir division. Expressions unisex show choir got third place in the unisex division.
