Man attacked, robbed in Greenwood

Greenwood police are investigating after a man said he was robbed early Saturday morning at an apartment complex.

At about 3:45 a.m., the 33-year-old man told police he had walked outside his apartment at Valle Vista, an apartment complex along Emerson Avenue, when he was struck in the head from behind and knocked to the ground, a Greenwood Police Department report said.

The man told police he was hit repeatedly in the back and had his wallet, with $200 in cash, stolen, the report said. The man told police he had gotten the money earlier from a nearby ATM. The wallet was found about 10 yards away, and the money was gone, the report said.

The man complained of face and back pain and was taken to Franciscan Health Indianapolis, the report said.
