INDIANAPOLIS
Daniel W. McGathey, 57, of Indianapolis passed away Friday, March 10, 2017.
He was born Oct. 22, 1959, in Indianapolis to Roland and Suzanne (Dampier) McGathey.
Daniel was employed at INDOT for 35 years. Daniel was the best shooter in the family and as a child, he was the best bottle finder who always gave the extra change from recycling them to his other siblings. Daniel enjoyed watching sports and was a loving father and grandfather. He was the type of person who was always willing to help out someone in need. He was a beloved son, father, papaw, and brother and will be forever missed.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Roland.
He is survived by his mother, Suzanne; sons, Joshua (Alicia Lucas) McGathey and Austin (Dakota Burns) McGathey; daughter, Caitlin (Reginald Carter) McGathey; brothers, Michael (Jackie) McGathey and Max (Tonya) McGathey; sister, Julie Dishman; grandchildren, Addyson, Izaiah, Nala, R.J., and Hanson and canine companion, Baby.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday with a funeral service at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
