Like his players, Edinburgh boys basketball coach Drew Glentzer certainly felt the sting of an overtime sectional loss to Morristown.
But while he was disappointed with the result, he certainly was not with the effort.
“We had enough opportunities ourselves to win the game,” Glentzer said. “But we got beat by (45) the first time we played them. So if you told me we were going to stat the game with overtime, I’d say OK.”

The Lancers, who lost to visiting Morristown 81-36 on Jan. 27, finished with a 6-18 record. The Yellow Jackets (16-8) will face Greenwood Christian Academy (7-16) at in a 6 p.m. semifinal Friday.
The Lancers’ Cameron Cravens sank a 3-pointer with 5 seconds left in regulation to give Edinburgh a 43-41 lead, but Morristown’s Hayden Langkabel hit a driving layup at the buzzer.
“That’s not the way we drew it up, but he made a heads-up play,” Morristown coach Scott McClelland said. “That’s what great players do. He did a good job reading his defender.”
Glentzer said they knew it was possible Morristown would try to drive the length of the floor.
“But we didn’t want to help off somebody and let them shoot a 3 and win it,” he said. “We didn’t do a good job of getting him stopped, but Langkabel is a great player.”
Langkabel was the high scorer for Morristown with 17 points. Trevon Carlton added 14 points, scoring six in overtime.
“Carlton was the difference in the game with his offensive rebounds,” McClelland said.
Lancers junior guard Colton Henderson drilled eight 3-pointers en route to 26 points.
“When his man came off to help, we did a great job feeding him and getting him some shots,” Glentzer said. “When you have a couple guys out there that can drive and a couple that can shoot, they have to make that decision who to stop.”
Edinburgh sank 10 3-pointers while Morristown didn’t have any.
The Yellow Jackets led 25-14 at halftime, but the Lancers closed the deficit to 30-26 after three quarters.
“Our kids stuck to the game plan and battled,” Glentzer said. “We erased that 11-point deficit pretty quick. I can’t say enough about how had our kids played. They had a great understanding. Holding the ball and spreading the floor was our best opportunity.”
McClelland said Glentzer and his staff had a terrific game plan.
“We were up 11 at halftime and we just didn’t get away from them,” McClelland said. “It wasn’t the prettiest game.”
I didn’t think we would come down and shoot the ball like we did the last time. To our kids’ credit, they stuck with it and we have the chance to play on Friday night.”
